How to use it
Check what document proves the student's right to the land and whether a lender will accept it. The answer decides whether the land can carry a loan in the venture plan.
South African benchmark
Freehold title is the norm on South African commercial farmland and is the standard bank security.
Country notes
Zimbabwe uses 99-year leases and offer letters on resettled land; Botswana and Namibia distinguish freehold, state and tribal or communal land; Zambia distinguishes state and customary land.
